I love questions and got one today from a reader named Alta. Alta was seeking advice on a computer purchase and said he wasn't technically inclined.
Well Alta, right now there are two Dell desktop deals I would recommend. For pure power and performance, you'd be hard pressed to beat the unpublished deal for $449 we posted here earlier. It only lacks a monitor (which doesn't matter if you are using your old one).
We've had a bunch of great monitor deals lately depending on your needs/wants if you don't have one.
A more conservative purchase would be this brand new deal from Dell Small Business.
TheVostro™ 200 Mini Tower comes with a 19" flat panel monitor and the option to have Windows XP preinstalled instead of Vista, which is good. (Seriously, don't choose Vista for this PC!)
The Vostro 200 also features 1GB of RAM, an 80GB Hard Drive and a DVD reader all for $439.
If you want a CD/DVD burner for backups and multimedia, I'd suggest upgrading the optical drive to a 16X DVD+/-RW Drive. That would bring the price up to $506 (still pretty reasonable).
I hope this helps and I assume you were referring to desktops. Just in case, I'm working on a new laptop deal.
Alta, thanks for the question. Be sure to keep up with what's new by checking back often and/or subscribing to our mailing list on the left side of the page.
