You get a lot of computer for your money with the Everex TC2502 Green gPC. Heck, you'll find hard drives more expensive than $200.
For those of you scratching your heads, let me clarify. This comes
with a custom version of Ubuntu Linux, the most user-friendly Linux version
around. (I think so anyway.) I use Ubuntu at home and would recommend it to just about
anyone.
VIA C7 CPUs won't blow the doors down performance-wise, but you'll sure save money on your power bill vs running a standard PC. (Some VIA CPUs don't even require fans.)
Yes, they are Intel/AMD/Microsoft Windows compatible.
The Green gPC includes:
- 1.5 GHz Via Technologies C7-D processor
Delivers energy-saving performance
- 512 MB of DDR2 system memory
Offers good performance and is expandable to 2 GB
Provides space for documents, games, photos and music
Lets you play DVDs and burn your own CDs for entertainment and data backup
Connects to a local area network or broadband Internet devices
- gOS operating system
Enables you to use the supplied OpenOffice.org 2.2 software suite (mostly compatible with Office 2000)
